Rant = on

Am I the only person who had alarm bells ringing in his head when he saw that Russia and Georgia where engaging in armed conflict?

I mean once again we find the aggressive nationalistic state of Russia forcing her agenda onto former soviet satellite countries. And here in the west all we do is wring our hands in a distressed manner and tell them to stop being little children. Whats really sad is that Russia has been making its aggressive tendencies perfectly clear ever since Putin first came to power but no one seemed willing to confront them about it. It's like Europe in the 30s anyone who wanted to could have read mein kampf and gained a clear picture of Hitlers intentions but they decided to listen to the pacifist Chamberlain while the Nazis gobbled up Europe. What's really disturbing is I don't think there will be a Churchill to pull us out of the muck this time.

The problems:
NATO is ineffective.
the UN is a corrupt system that can do nothing but condemn Israel and line the pockets of corporations and terrorists.
and individual countries seem unwilling to act.

So Russia is free to duke it out with Georgia. The only bright spot is that the Georgians are defending themselves.

Whats really sad is no one seems to care. When I checked CNN a story about John Edwards Fathering illegitimate children ranked far over coverage of the fighting!

I am becoming royally fed up with American culture.

... I haven't updated this sucker in awhile so I thought I would throw up a few random lines on my recent history.

...well let's see I'm living in an apartment because my house is having extensive renovations over the course of the summer...

...I went to camp in Florida for about a week which was friggin awesome!

...I saw the Dark knight best movie of the summer so far hands down! heath was amazing!

... I've been trying to think up some new layouts for my blog and or other personal sites(which have yet to materialize)

that's all I can think of right I am kinda brain dead because I have the camp crud and symptons=headache, congestion, soar throat, runny nose etc. which combine together to make thinking kind of tricky

well june 6th has rolled around yet again and I am yet another year older it's kinda freaking me out last years felt like it was yesterday not a year ago I'm in one of those weird time warp things when you can't believe your only 17 but you can't believe you're already 17 it's kinda weird and annoying the older I get the less excuse I have to be an idiot which makes life less fun sometimes

anyway I get another year of being and idiotic high school student and then I get to be a idiotic college student for 4+ years and then I have to join the real world and get a job and do something productive with my life ... oh well.

I need a job,

just realized I hadn't updated this personal internet journal in awhile so I thought I'd just list off some what I've been up to recently.

well I finished up school a couple of weeks ago, saw Iron Man(it was amazing!), saw Indiana Jones(pretty durn good), learned a new song on the guitar, hung out at the river last sunday with the family, almost finished up the yearbook, saved the world from nuclear holocaust, and interviewed at starbucks this Monday.

the last one is the most important to me. The guy pretty much said he will probably hire me eventually but whether it comes sooner or later is as yet undecided. So if all you peeps want to keep my job situation in your prayers it would be cool.

summer art project?

I've been thinking lately that I need to set some sort of goals for myself during the summer. I already have working, learning guitar, expanding my extremely basic knowledge of coding languages, and maybe getting ahead on school. But I also want to do something artistic throughout the summer even if it's as simple has carrying a sketch book and making at least one serious drawing (not random doodles!) every day. Or I might attempt to write and upload a personal website/portfolio for all my various interest and areas of expertise. I want to do this stuff as a career and while I have some(very little) natural artistic ability I don't have nearly enough practical experience.
so if anyone has any good or even bad suggestions please feel free to throw them my way
I gotta run so I'll wrap this up.

This is what happens when I try to plan a blog post but don't concentrate on my orginal subject

On Homeschooling

A brief romp through the turgid waters of my brain on the topic of homeschooling/homeschoolers.

I apologize in advance for any semblance of order or correct grammar/spelling as either of them would be a gross misrepresentation of how my brain works.

Random
Homeschoolers the world over know that we are different. When other kids were reading Harry Potter we were reading Agatha Christie, PG Wodehouse, Einstein, Jane Austen, or maybe last years text book(just to make sure we hadn't forgotten anything). We could read and write when we were four and have been 2-3 grades ahead ever since which makes us think we're smarter. This isn't so, we simply spent our early school days concentrating on academics rather than finding our place in a social hierarchy. If you were anything like me you had already planned and executed several attempts at would tion by the time you were in high school.
(note how the last two sentences above are in no obvious way connected and in no way flow well)

Learning
Homeschoolings adherents often sing the praises of how it allows their children to do things like "work at their own pace," "do more extra curricular activities," " avoid social pressure at a young age," and their favorite "interest learning" . The last is not strictly true because although I have enjoyed more freedom to pursue my interest than many children I quickly discovered that my natural curiosity did not lead me to study particle physics or math, rather I spent my time wondering what would happen if you put a kitten or squirrel into the vacuum chutes at the bank or, trying to decide what I should draw on the wall with next. Naturally behaviour like this is discouraged be s and left me with a profound sense of the hypocrisy of "interest learning" the only thing I ever got out of it was a fairly in depth knowledge of military history by the time I was 12.

Squirrels
Since we are already discussing squirrels it is worth noting that a neighborhood cat killed one in my neighbors yard today. An unexpected occurrence to say the least. Since I have never in my life scene a domesticated feline successfully hunt down and kill its prey the revelation that cats can and in fact do kill other animals has shaken my philosophy to the core. The entire basis of my existence has been pulled out from under me and I am left wondering whether or not I will be the next victim of the cats reign of terror.

A return to the topic at hand?
Which in a natural pleasing manner brings us back to homeschooling. Or does it ? When one writes down exactly what pops in to their head at their time they are writing one quickly realises just exactly how disjointed human thought is and is left uncomfortably wondering how we ever managed to accomplish anything at all. Picture in your minds eye a brilliant ancient Egyptian mathematician explaining how they planned to build the pyramids when he suddenly spots a crocodile out the window. In his mind this leads to an instant connection and his conversation suddenly digresses into a discussion of the dietary habits of crocodiles. The Pharaoh, who wanted to hear about the Pyramids and doesn't give a fig about crocodiles, becomes angry and has the mathematician beheaded. Thus the Pyramids are never built and mankind is none the wiser. Yet the Pyramids were built and built magnificently at that so one has to wonder how this could possible be.

And so We have digressed
... Wait a minute ... I seem to have digressed enough so I think I'll stop. I will try and see if I can find something a little more meaningful to post about next time (the election?) and perhaps actually try to put it into a semi organized manner. Although the style of writing demonstrated above lacks clarity, purpose, or indeed any easily identifiable subject. It can serve a purpose both to inform the reader about a wide variety of subjects in a relatively narrow space and entertain him/her usually at the authors expense.

I need a new computer

I NEED a new computer the one I have right now is a cruddy, clunky, slow, low battery life, 4-5 year old dell laptop and it simply can't keep up. It has numerous issues especially low battery and a tendency to run hot there are also a couple of keys that no longer work.

Frankly I'm and somewhat suprised that it still can run the programs that I use on it for my school work and graphic design.

Now the debate mac or pc hhmmm.
While I acknowledge that apple makes some of the best computers on the market I do have some problems with them mainly price(I'm a poor student so $$ is important) and battery life.
So I'll probably get another windows machine at this stage simply for financial reasons if nothing else.

I'm seriously considering purchasing one of HPs artist special edition notebooks

they are fairly affordable and have some advantages such as
a webcam and mic.

just plain cool looking.

Right now I'm broke so the point is moot but I'll be working all summer and my birthday is in June so hopefully I'll be purchasing a new machine by or around then
